key or mouse bindings wont work

I have successfully installed the game and installed all updates that are present here.
The game opens fine and as far as i can see it plays fine after some adjustments of my mouse but i have the problem that key bindings (like L for creature line) do not work
also i can not adjust certain things like walls, can not pick up trees, if i pick up a person and place that above a cornfield it should normally light up yellow and indicate that this is going to be a farmer but this does not work either.

Any help would be nice ^^

What land are you on? And did you skip any lands? The game can be a little... buggy, at times. But I've never seen it fail to function to this extent.

Feel free to add screenshots if need be. You can make them by doing Alt + S, and they can be found in my documents/Black & White 2 under the profile you're using.
