BW1 on Windows 7

Hah! Yes, maybe I am taking the weenie’s way out. In my defense, I’ll offer a couple thoughts:

A) Based on the other “whatever it was” game, I suspect that the system updates I applied during the 6-month period had everything to do with being able to successfully launch and play that game. My tinkering certainly had no effect.

B) My PC was originally a Vista machine and I’m reasonably certain that Black & White didn’t give me much trouble with that OS. Although I’m not willing to go back to Vista [spits over his shoulder], I did clone the drive just after upgrading to Windows 7. I’m willing to load the clone, but I’ve breached my frustration threshold for the moment and prefer to see the effect of upcoming system updates.

In the meantime, and to unmercifully butcher and paraphrase a line from Inherit The Wind, “Black & White is a game, a favorite game, but it’s not the only game.”

Hopefully I'm putting this in the right spot...

My daughter & I LOVE the original BnW game, but haven't been able to play it til Windows 7 came out, we were sooo excited! I read up on how to make it work, like using the run as administrator, and changing the video/graphics, and we've been playing happily!!

Til yesterday. Got this message  "LH has stopped working" and then "Windows is searching for a solution and will close". HELP!!!! Haven't changed anything that I know of that would suddenly make it stop working. I'm not exactly a techy, so if you could dumb down your responses, hopefully I will be able to keep up. Thanks in advance!!!  :laugh2

I've yet to ever try to get B&W working on Windows 7, so hopefully the others will come along soon and perhaps provide some other kind of assistance, but have there been any recent updates on your computer, e.g. Security Updates, Antivirus, etc.?

Something has to have changed for it to suddenly stop working.

In addition, you may want to check the old reliables like checking if the disk dirty, scratched or damaged.
