Vista and BW Backup...

Vista bombed on me again.  I try to load up BW and before the fancy particle show I get a pink screen flash and nothing. 


BW backup doesn't seem to work with vista even in compatibility mode.


Is there a way to save my creature data manually and transfer it back into the single player game? 

Last time this happened I had to reload BW from scratch.

Yes, here's something I wrote quite some time ago.

The proceedures might be different with Vista, but the principle is the same.

Vista doesn't seem to like BW Patch 1.2.  After I patch 1.2 in the game freezes on startup.
Downloaded the BW patch remover and went on with my life with the 1.1 patch.

Recovered my creature and my saved position on land 3.  Having a great time beating land 4 atm.


Steps I had to take to get it to work:

1. Backup the creaturemind, the profiles and the registry.  Didn't need anything else since I hadn't touched maps and skins.

2. Uninstall BW and delete extra files.

3. Install BW CD game only no patch

4. Play BW until I can save.

5. Patch 1.1 and check it is running.

6. Copy backup files and activate registry.
