Villagers won't dance...

Hey, I have looked around the forums and the FAQs on this site, but just can't find anything related to my question...

Well, getting to the point, I want my villagers to dance around the singing stones. Except that they won't dance at all. Around anything. I have like 1000 villagers just sitting around doing nothing. I can play whatever object I want next to them, but they just won't friggin' dance!

I am in Land 1, and I have patch 1.2 on a clean install.

Please help! How can I make the people want to dance! I want to create some artifacts before I head off to Land 2!

Are your people satisfied? Often they don't dance if there's more food to be gathered or babies to be born. It might just be land 1 however; i've had trouble making artefacts on this land too. It might just be a better idea to make artefacts on land 2.

Yes the villagers really need to be  happy before they can / will dance  enough to make  artefacts..
L2 is better but  L3 is the  fastest if you play  the  original game  as  released. There are many  "tweaks" you can do, to make the game  more fun on your 2/3/4th runthrough.
