lol umm I dunno what level it is.. but its the 1 that you start off with at the start and you come back to. lol

I keep dying and the fireballs keep burning the temple.. I can kill the ogre thing but I cant impress the village before my temple gets burnt.. help?

It's all about preparation.  I could go into alot of detail, but here are the main points.

Go back to the previous land and drop the following into the portal:
- As many villagers as you can
- As much wood as you can
- As much food as you can
- As many spiritual shields as you can.  You can create your own miracle bubbles by taking a miracle from your altar and dropping it on an empty miracle dispenser (which you can build yourself if you like)

Once you get to the next land:
- Drop the majority of the food in the worship site
- Get about 75% of the villagers to worship there.
- Don't worry too much about building up your villager just yet. Just build a few houses built near the temple.
- Using the miracle shields you brought with you, build a wall of small shields between the big gate and your village.  Your villagers at the whorship site will power these shields.  It's more efficient to use a bunch of small shields rather than one big one as when a fireball hits the big one, it'd draw much more energy from the worhsip site.

As all the fireballs come from the direction of the gates, your wall of shields will stop them hitting your village.  If/when one of the shields go down, put up a new one.

All that should buy you enough time to defeat the ogre and stop the fireballs (which can be done by impressing the Japanese village and doing the bell trial.

Your villager population will slowly go down, but you should've bought enouh time to get things done and then start building up your main village

What i do is just get my creature to impress the village straight away, and leave the village to fend for itself. After a flock miracle or two, the town is taken and you can stop the fireballs. Having an effective creature is crucial, since if it can't take a small undefended village, it will have no chance on the next land. Never fight the ogre before you stop the fireballs, because the rain is essential to extinguish the fireballs. Whilst it is raining, the fireballs are as good as harmless. Try going on skirmish and teaching your creature some impressive miracles.

I do almost exactly the same as SkelApe.
Send your creature to impress the Jap village. Help build the temple so the  Bell quest is available faster.
You have about 10m to do these before the fireballs even get close to important parts of the village.
I take virtually nothing through the vortex exept artifacts and any handy grain or wood etc. Certainly no villagers.
.
For the way I play the start village is basically abandoned to look after itself as soon as posible about 15m into the land after the Ogre is dealt with.
.
Again use your creature to complete the Adam quest the quick way is to send him to the Aztec village  and grab the "Actor" who lives there.
