Change the music files in B&W<hr />I have written 2 short very short tutorials. The first is how to replace a simple sound (the particle intro one) and the second how to replace alignment music. Both of these I think will eb fairly common in people wanting to edit and the alignment one is slightly more complicated in that the files are on the CD.

The Basics - Replacing a sound
This is a very basic tutorial on how to get a custom sound into Black & White. For this example we will replace the sound which
plays during the "particle intro" - right after the loading, just before the playing
Open up the sound bank maker and then open up "InGame.sad" which if you have the game installed to the default location will be here:
C:\Program Files\Lionhead Studios Ltd\Black & White\Audio\SFX\Game
There are a lot of sounds here and it is important to note that by deleting one of the sounds you run the risk or crashing the game
whenever that specific sound try's to play.
If you scroll about three quarters of the way down then you come across a sound called "logo.wav". This is the sound which we need to replace.
Right click the sound and select "replace" from the menu. Then browse for a wave sound (.wav).
For this particular sound the length is about 31 seconds (The particle intro ends regardless of the sound length). To find out a
sounds length right click it and select extract. Then open it up in any decent media player and it will tell you how long the sound is.
For the change to take affect you need to save the SAD archive. Next open up black and white, wait for it to load and enjoy the music
How to change the alignmet/ background music
There are a lot of different alignment tunes which Black & White plays. It follows this pattern:
Civilization_good.sad
Civilization_neutral.sad
Civilization_evil.sad
So for example when you move over a Japanese village and you are aligned towards the side of Black & White will play
the "Japn_.sad" and if you move over a Greek village and are a good god then "Grek_.sad" will be played.
Now there is a slight problem when making new alignment sound for Black & White in that alignment music is stored on the CD meaning
you'd think you cant edit it....wrong! Fortunately if you copy the alignment music from the Black & White CD to your Black & White
directory then the game will play the SAD files off the hard-disk instead. This is also great for players who have slow CD drives.
Here is how to setup the files if you are using the default install paths:
copy this folder:
D:\Audio\Music\align
To here:
C:\Program Files\Lionhead Studios Ltd\Black & White\Audio\Music\
Now alignment sounds are MPEG files and when you open the alignment SAD files up using the sound bank maker you will see it stores
these mpeg files in sectors. Well that's far too messy and complicated to edit but fortunately there is an easy way.
Make a new SAD file and go File >> Import MPEG Audio File. Now select the MP2 file which you wish to import. The Sound Bank Maker then
imports it and stores the file in these sectors.
Now all you need to do is save your alignment music. Find the path on the hard disk where you copied the alignment music from the CD
too and select which piece of alignment music you want to overwrite.
All that's left is to load up Black & White and let the music play!
