1. Ok first of, i used the creature changer to get a lion, and i train my creature to be non-greedy and very violent.. but everytime i start a skirmish map, my 'creature mind' would always be 'greedy, compassionate,' etc etc. And it says he never seen any other creatures when he's seen 3! Does the creature mind refresh itself? or do i have an error? The spells learnt are still there.. it happened to my last game as well..

2. Using the creature changer, would your creature acquire the strength and speed etc, of the one u chose? For example, i changed my tiger to a lion. Would my creature now have increased strength and intelligence? or did it just change to look like lion?

3. It says my creature is 'very hot'. I can't get him to cool down.. There don't seem to be anything wrong with him though. What are the consequences of being too hot? and how can i solve it?

4 I understand that the creature starts to shrink after he dies too many times..So if my creature dies every day for 10yrs,  does that mean by the age that he should be fully grown, that he would be 1 foot shorter than his intended maximum?

5. Sometimes, when i try to reward my creature, i accidentally hit him, due to my cursor moving too fast. And if u keep the mouse button held down, u can repair it by rewarding him. But will the accidental hits cause him to hate you? or cause any permanent scars?

6. I want my creature to attack other creatures. So i show him, me casting a lightning bolt on a turtle. But now, he only attacks the turtle, and not any other creatures. How do i make him attack ALL creatures?

7. Sometimes i reward my creature, and a little black box appears telling me stuff like 'he will eat that sort of thing more'. But sometimes that box dont appear. Does that mean he hasn't learnt anything? and that i've just rewarded him for nothing?

8. Are there any ill effects of too much punisment? Because my creature really does alot of things wrong, i had to punish him. But sometimes it seems that i may be traumatising him.. I've heard that harsh punishments would cause them to be rebellious..

9. Any ill effects in not letting my creature 'play' or 'mess around'? Or even be 'curious'? Because i find it a waste of time, and i wanna punish him for it..  :laugh2

10. if i were to slap my creature, at 10%, 3 times... would it be equivalent of giving him a huge smack that is 30%? Would the big slap have more chances of causing a scar? and would big slaps cause them to hate u more than accumulated small slaps?

11. I praise my creature for pooping on a tree, because that seems like the natural thing to do.. But now i see him pooping more often. Is it because of my praises or because he's eating too much? can praise cause the creature to poop more?

12. What are the effects of constipation?

13. And what are the effects of dehydration?

14. I only feed my creature when his hunger reaches 70%, and he becomes full just eating a sheep, but he goes to another and eats it too! And when i punish him, it says that he will eat sheep less often.. I want him to like the food, but not be so greedy, how do i do that?

15. Are there spells that require a certain age to learn? My creature is 1 yr old, and he can't learn "invisibility", "enlarge" etc. I kept trying but no light bulb..

16. If i dont let my creature grow (due to lack of fat etc), would there be any permanent effects? or would he eventually reach his maximum size?

17. If i reward my creature too much, would it numb the effects and cause him not to care for rewards?

18. What are the differences between "evil, good and neutral" creatures.. other than looks? Are there any advantages or disadvantages?

Thanks alot guys, and i really hope some of u are patient enough to answer these questions! :D

Hi, That's more than a few questions.

1. Greedy is a bit misleading. But it's nothing to really worry about. I forget the ins and outs about it though. :rolleyes

2. Using the creature changer, would your creature acquire the strength and speed etc, of the one u chose? For example, i changed my tiger to a lion. Would my creature now have increased strength and intelligence? or did it just change to look like lion?

It will be a new creature with that creature's stats. One thing though when using the creature changer. If the creature you change to has less intelligence. Then he will loose some of his learnt knowledge.

3. It says my creature is 'very hot'. I can't get him to cool down.. There don't seem to be anything wrong with him though. What are the consequences of being too hot? and how can i solve it?

Get him to drink, he's probably dehydrating. If you punish him for it then he'll complain less. Either way, it's not a big deal.

4 I understand that the creature starts to shrink after he dies too many times..So if my creature dies every day for 10yrs,  does that mean by the age that he should be fully grown, that he would be 1 foot shorter than his intended maximum?

If he keeps dying then he'll keep shrinking also. Albeit a small amount. But if he's left to grow after, he will reach max height.

5. Sometimes, when i try to reward my creature, i accidentally hit him, due to my cursor moving too fast. And if u keep the mouse button held down, u can repair it by rewarding him. But will the accidental hits cause him to hate you? or cause any permanent scars?

As long as you don't hit him too hard and reward  right after you punish him It should be ok. Most scars aren't permanent. They should fade eventually.

6. I want my creature to attack other creatures. So i show him, me casting a lightning bolt on a turtle. But now, he only attacks the turtle, and not any other creatures. How do i make him attack ALL creatures?

Use a variety of skirmish maps and have him fight all creatures.

7. Sometimes i reward my creature, and a little black box appears telling me stuff like 'he will eat that sort of thing more'. But sometimes that box don't appear. Does that mean he hasn't learnt anything? and that I've just rewarded him for nothing?

Creature help can be misleading. As long as you take action quickly, he will learn. Just be sure to do it before he get's into something else and forgets what he's done.

8. Are there any ill effects of too much punishment? Because my creature really does a lot of things wrong, i had to punish him. But sometimes it seems that i may be traumatising him.. I've heard that harsh punishments would cause them to be rebellious..

Yes..... [Read This]

9. Any ill effects in not letting my creature 'play' or 'mess around'? Or even be 'curious'? Because i find it a waste of time, and i wanna punish him for it..  :laugh2

It depends on what sort of creature you want. A playful, curious creature tends to be more independent and will do things on his own ore.

10. if i were to slap my creature, at 10%, 3 times... would it be equivalent of giving him a huge smack that is 30%? Would the big slap have more chances of causing a scar? and would big slaps cause them to hate u more than accumulated small slaps?

A big slap will bruise more. But 30% is still 30%.

11. I praise my creature for pooping on a tree, because that seems like the natural thing to do.. But now i see him pooping more often. Is it because of my praises or because he's eating too much? can praise cause the creature to poop more?

Back to my comment about creature help. It's because you rewarded him for pooping. If you constantly reward him for pooping at one sitting (pardon the pun). You can end up with a pile of poop bigger than the creature is.

12. What are the effects of constipation?

Not that much other that the fact that he'll start getting distracted by it.

13. And what are the effects of dehydration?

It affects his health and performance a bit.

14. I only feed my creature when his hunger reaches 70%, and he becomes full just eating a sheep, but he goes to another and eats it too! And when i punish him, it says that he will eat sheep less often.. I want him to like the food, but not be so greedy, how do i do that?

You should feed him at 50%. He starts loosing fat after that. Focus on him but don't punish when he picks the food up or a light slap. Again don't trust creature help.

15. Are there spells that require a certain age to learn? My creature is 1 yr old, and he can't learn "invisibility", "enlarge" etc. I kept trying but no light bulb..

I think it's more like size than age. But there are some miracles a creature just won't learn. Or use if they do know it.

16. If i dont let my creature grow (due to lack of fat etc), would there be any permanent effects? or would he eventually reach his maximum size?

He will reach full growth eventually.

17. If i reward my creature too much, would it numb the effects and cause him not to care for rewards?

No, he'll come back for more.

18. What are the differences between "evil, good and neutral" creatures.. other than looks? Are there any advantages or disadvantages?

Looks  and actions mostly. You can have an evil creature who is capable of tending your town and yet  reek havoc on all others. It's all in the training.

Thanks alot guys, and i really hope some of u are patient enough to answer these questions! :D

Thanks a whole lot!
Wow i never knew i'd get a reply so fast, and a full reply, too!

not just some half-assed reply.

Thanks for taking the time Kays! The article on punishing too much was hilarious. :happytears:

Skelape, heheh i know its a lot of questions, but they just kept accumulating in my head. BW can be a confusing game, and yet so beautiful  :laugh2

Just had to add this;

Incase you still havn't figured out how to 'train/raise' your creature;
Here is a nice guide.

Or, if that is 'too much', or not understandable.
Think the creature is a dog, and not an AI. Lionhead did a great job on making the creature look life-like with learning and thinking.

So lifelike, you never know what exactly you taught it! :p

And ofcourse, Kayssplace is wonderful, so post all your questions!
There will always be somebody lingering about to try to answer all them.

Kays ...He also got replied from PB&W for the same set of questions.  :D
Interesting  differences in opinion/ways of playing but that's the game. Right for you/me is not the same as the right way to play the game.
.
Sylvan...The dog analogy is better that that guide but the cat aproach works better for me.

Cats, dogs! Who cares.. Its both mut!

Just depends on how you like to see it ;-)

Cats are more indipendant and can work on their own.
Dogs follow or lead the pack.
There is a large tactical difference ;)
