Soccer Field?

Does anyone know what the soccer field is supposed to do? It doesn't seem to do anything but distract my minions . They use the field instead of making artifacts or making babies.

My creature is distracted by it too. He also eats the balls.

Does the soccer field  actually HAVE a purpose or does it just take up space and be a nuisance?

It takes up space and is a nuisance I suppose it probably keeps your followers happy, but if they're just playing football I suppose it doesn't matter whether they're happy or not.

First gen villagers will play football  but later gns will not be so keen.
Really it is not relevant to the  main storyline.
