Heya,

Just reinstalled after some serious glitches murdered yet another attempt at completing single player.

Windows 7

c:users/public/games

installed 1.1 and then 1.2.

Besides those basic things, I also downloaded some maps from this site, placing files in either /playground or /landscape, and customized my graphic settings.

Annd.... upon booting up the game, there was no music in game (as in, the cutscene still had it).

Anyone have an idea?

This is a common enough problem.

I believe the solution is to copy the music on the disc to the folder of the exact same name in the game directory on your hard drive.

Confirmed just copy the "Audio" folder to overwrite the folder on your installed path.
You should have no further problems........
Except maybe wide screen but that can be  solved too.. I play in  1650x1080

The music is playing now. Thank you!

But how does one get wide screen resolution going...?! I can't change from 800x600 let alone get anything close to 1366x768.

use the setup.exe to change teh graphics quality of black & white.

For other then non-supported screen sizes, you need a registry edit. - I shall inform you later today how to do it.

Edit:

This is how to change the screensize to a custom format:

run the Registry editor, by either entering 'Regedit' into the windows 7 / vista search bar, or entering regedit into the 'run' window (xp, vista)

Now, find the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Lionhead Studios Ltd/Black & Whiite/BWSetup

In the last folder, are many keys, the ones we need to edit are ScreenW and ScreenH

Edit respectively to the desired Height, and Width - remember to change the radio button to DECIMAL - this will allow you to enter the size of your screen 'as is'.

Running Setup.exe after this 'hack' will reset the hack, reverting back to 800x600.
Edit2:
I feel it is imperative I would inform you about this; Windows OS' has always been horrid, and will never stop being so. If you muck up the registry, by deleting something, or entering a wrong value, it has the potential of harming your PC - or causing your OS to stop working.

Editing the Registy is at own risk!! - even if the ones I describe here are 'harmless'. Do not take this warning lightly.

ahh, yes.

I thought it was the setup.exe; however, whenever I try to change anything, the program never saves any changes. I thought there was something else I needed to do.

Be sure to run it as Administrator - added, if it still does not 'save' - Change the setting ingame to 'maximum'.

A posible reason for it not saving, is because it wants to edit the registry, but never requests if it can - I suggest instead of 'run as administrator' - you actually log onto the administrator account in safe mode, and then run it again (Since we only have to do it once).
This should work, and bypass the User Account Control, without having to disable it, and feel less secure. :) (Edit: It does not work - setup.exe won't want to run in safe-mode, and crash - setting the setup.exe in administrator account will work - but it will crash black&white - then, at the next start up, it is at minimum settings again.)

It might not change the size of your game yet - so use the registry 'hack' to up the size of the resolution that way. :)

If this still does not work, I shall give the other keys, with their respective 'maximum custom' setting, so you can enter all of them manualy. :)

Perhaps it's about time I make a topic with stikey request for a FAQ / Windows 7 Support! :D

Edit: I know I somehow got it to work.. it works on my laptop.. O.o;;

I have not noticed a difference between  W7 and Vista.
So perhaps it it is the time to make a final  guide ........................
Cowgod  already did one  but  a new one  with more info  ....... would be  better. :D
