Hi everyone. It's been many years since I visited a B&W community or played the game itself. But I recently made the decision to try again to get it working on XP, and after a couple of hours trying many different methods, it finally worked. Woohoo!
Everything seemed to be working fine and I was lost in a fluffy dream world of old memories. Damn, I had forgotten just how fun this game was. I passed the rock-throwing silver scroll on Land 1 without problems. But on Land 2, the Fireball challenge, my fireballs unerringly veered off to the right when I threw them- seemingly for no reason.
After failing to throw a single fireball even *near* the island, I tested it again throwing fireballs randomly around the map. They always veer to the right at quite a great angle (at least 30 degrees, sometimes more).
I'm perplexed by the problem, because I can throw rocks just fine. I know all about afterspin. I used to be quite the pro fireballer back in the day. It's definitely not being influenced by an after-throw movement of the mouse, because even when I'm extremely careful to throw in a perfectly straight line, it still flies off to the right.
I wonder... is this weird problem due to XP? That seems unlikely, but... hmmm. I just don't know. I've searched around for answers and havn't found any.
Edit: Also, I can't catch any fireballs I've thrown.
If anyone has any insight or suggestions I'd be very grateful. Oh, and hiya to any old friends/aquaintances who knew me as Moogle! *big wave*
