Gosh, it kinda brings a tear to my eye when I see that there's people who are still into b&w  :happytears:

Just got back to playing myself, since I never really finished the game. Now that I have, I was thinking of playing against, or possibly with someone, but as the official servers are shutdown... Are there any known private servers, or has anyone got one of their own up? I guess it'd be through Phoenix then, right? I've heard Hamachi works as well, but I don't exactly know many people who're still playing the game, heh...

I did see a topic about a server on Phoenix, but it seemed to be sort of dead.

Thanking in advance, sorry if I posted in the wrong section (or asked a completely idiotic question).

Fundoshi:

I might have found myself asking the same question (I've posted on the topic you refer to)...
There is someone whose creature might have fun with mine (an Ape Wolf or Tiger).
I myself have not been to land 5  :( (but I have been through CI four times)  :grin2
(I have more than 3 game accounts).
Would you  mind telling me what big N's creature is before he becomes a mirror of your own,
and what's his color/symbol?  :upside
But as for your question I'm afraid I can only say that I like the idea of a private server!  :)
But other than that all I can do is see where this topic goes...
Sorry if I am not much help.  :(

Just a quick explanation....
There are no servers anymore what MP there is done  using Himachi or Pheonix these are VLAN programs  that allow LAN games over the  internet.
The basic  procedure is exactly the same as  playing a LAN game. One player hosts the game  and another or more joins that game.
VLAN connects 2 or more  computers as if they were connected  the same network.
..
So to get a MP game going...
1. Find another player who will commit to  a future date and time to play. Say Saturday 6pm GMT.
2. Decide  who will host , this used to be the  best PC but now just about  any bodys PC is well over spec for this game.
3. Actually turn up. On time is best.
4. This is the hard part ...........be a good winner or looser. It is hard to find any body to play with so.......be grateful you got a game at all.
Winner.....Offer some  advice that could help.
Loser......Hang around and chat you may get  some good tips. If you just quit out you may not be offered a game again by this player.
.
I have not mentioned  the nitty gritty bits but  a flavour of what to do.

Thanks for replying guys, in all honesty that's actually more than I'd expect of a thread like this :|

@AppleApe
I don't know if it varies, but to me it was a lion (decent size, neutral). I started with an Ape, and had a turtle when I got there.
Can't say about his symbol as I didn't see one (might've been a glitch, I dunno), but his color is yellow. The map itself is definitely my favorite, it's just a shame with the shrinking curse. Though there's probably a skirmish or something with land5 for base in the downloads section, seen loads o stuff like that there so far.

@Gremxula
Thanks for summing that up, it clearified things 'bit for me  :)
I guess I'll just have to find someone to play with then, cheers!

Yeah, Nemesis is a slightly darker or more orange yellow than Khazar. I might be thinking of Khazar, but I'm relatively certain that Nemesis's symbol is an "X" with two curves parallel and tending outward from the forward slash of the "X." And the creature is always a lion, no matter what.

EDIT: @ Fundoshi: A Pratchett fan, eh? Just noticed your signature. :D

Really?  ???
I had 3 guesses:
Wolf, Chimp, & Lion. I thought  a chimp because in Minas's map Forgotten Paradise he said that the enemy creature had the Nemesis creature mind and from his YouTube video I saw that the creature was a Chimp. Wolf cuz that's what Lethes has. A Lion cuz he's smart and is very strong and after all, his owner the games big bad guy!  :devil
So, in other words, his symbol is the same as the pre-installed skirmish map's third god?
But, man, wouldn't it be nice if skirmish god's creatures could randomize!? - like one time it could be a Brown Bear, next an Ogre!
I mean, I know how to manually change the creature - like the Ogre is 13 & 9 is the Brown Bear and any number higher than 17 can result in the game crashing.
Oh, sorry if I am gunking up your thread - maybe I should ask this on my own thread?  :sorry
