Hello Kayssplace,
I have recently received my BnW2 back from a friend but when I tried to install it again, towards the beginning of the  main installation part (the bit with the background pictures), when it was uploading "everything.stuff" i had this message pop up:

Black and White 2 has failed to install. Your system has not been modified. please re-run the installer to try again.
Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

The computer that I'm playing it on doesn't have the internet so I won't be able to downoad anything for it unless I can transfer it via USB.

Thank you so much - Will

Hi, chances are you've got a dirty or scratched CD.

Use a CD cleaner on it if you have one. Otherwise, use a mild soap with a soft cloth and wipe from the inside out.

Just to flesh out Kays reply a bit CRC errors are 99% of the time a data read error from the disc caused by dirt or scratches dirt will clean off but scratches can be a real pain.
If you think it is a scratch to blame the first thing to do is hold the CD/DVD up to the light and look at the silver side if you see points or a line of light shining through then the disc is dead beyond recovery.
If the data side of the disc is intact but the read side is scratched then all is not lost.
.
Data..read... side???? At this point some will be puzzled so here's a quick explanation most CD/DVD's are single sided the flat side has the data layer normally covered by a layer of paint/ printing and a silver side "the disc is thinner near the centre hole", this is the read side.
.
Severe damage to the read side can be  repaired and the disc brought back into use but if the data is gone ....it's gone..
.
Polishing/cleaning the read side  is what the "kits" do and is the obvious first step, and work well for most of us and is about as far as it is worth going to recover a disc we could just re-buy if it came to it.
Just let me say that if the data layer is intact it can be recovered  but just how much time and effort is it worth.
