What's a good program to open and play .sad files like the SFX/Atmos files.  I'm thinking my mystery roar is hidden deep inside one...  Media Player and iTunes don't work.

LOL, I remember opening up the Guidance file one night with my headphones on high, and got blasted with the creepy "death" thing.  *shudders* Never again...

Which version? Because I have an older version that won't play those.

Looked up the supported file extensions from the WinAmp site, and .SAD isn't on the list.  Which version do you use Kayss?  Do you know any other players or plug-ins?

I'm using Version 5 and it plays them out of the box. No plugins added as far as I recall. I know that the earlier versions like 3 didn't.

Hmm... try VLC media player, i use it and there wasn't a file(sound/video) i haven't been able on it 'till now.

[offtopic] Poor files  :(, they're .sad. Isn't there a way to make them .happy files? D:

I tryed both WinAmp and VLC, but I couldn't play any of the files in the SFX folder.  The Dialogue folder works just fine, but that's it.  There appears to be some sort of codex issue with the others.  I'm not quite sure actually...  I was really hoping to find out what's in "Scripts.sad" file.

You need no Player,

extract the music and sounds with the .sad extractor and convert it to .mp3

I forgot about that utility.

Still need some form of player though.

Heya,

I know this is a severe necropost, but I just tried to play my .sad files again in WinAmp and it suddenly doesn't work anymore. I downloaded a new version of WinAmp (which was actually the same version), I redownloaded the plug-in responsible for reading .sads and I tried the SADEX GUI (as mentioned in this topic), which worked for most files, but continually crashes on others, such as the Nemesis tune.

I was just dropping by to ask two things:
1) Does anyone know a work-around?
or
2) Has anyone uploaded the soundtrack in readable .mpgs or other such formats?

I'd be very happy if you could help.
Thank you very much,
Shrooblord

99.99 % of B&W files have vanished over the years.

.SAD is not supported these days.

You could try an old version of Winamp see if it works ....from memory upto v2.9 and above  v4 + worked in game.
maybe a useful link..    http://www.oldapps.com/winamp.php

1. Find the Music From B&W You want on YouTube.
Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhNpxOhB0uM&
2.  Go to http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ enter the URL of the vid, then hit the download button.  :)
