My creature is a pain to educate.

I've started to play B&W recently and it's a lot harder to educate my creature than in B&W2.

I'm wanting my ape to be good, but for some reasons, he has horns growing on his head. So I looked at his alignement in the creature cave and it was written black-hearted  :shocked.

Every time I see him eat a villager I beat him up, but he still does it.

:help

P.S.: Does eating animals make him evil?

Creature training in BW1 is much different than for BW2. It's more like training a pet. Your creature will learn from watching you. So make sure that he is paying attention to you when you are showing him something.

Don't ever punish or reward past 100%. Here's a a guide which should be of some help to you.

P.S.: Does eating animals make him evil?

Not if it's someone elses livestock. And I think a bit if it's your own.

Don't go feeding a small creature Cows. It's instant fat.

Arg, I always reward or punish him at 100%  :bomb

It's lot more complicated and yet a lot more interesting than BW2.
Thank you for the guide!

Yes, it is more complex than BW2. You can't just set the level you wish him to be at.

In BW1 there's no set scale and a creature will always be learning. Mostly from what you teach him and from what he sees you doing. They also learn by themselves and can surprise you with the things they do. Although you can leave a BW1 creature by himself to do his own thing. It is advisable to keep an eye on him on occasion since you really can't be sure of what they are up to.

It''s an ongoing process which never really stops.  As I suggested, use my training map or Kilroy's Training grounds and spend some time training your creature and teaching him how you want him to behave. A creature will remember all that he's learned in a skirmish/playground map and use that in the game.
