My Alignment Won't Stick

Hello, been away for a long time. Busy with college, and now, graduate school. I have some time off, so I'm playing the old stand-by.  :laugh2

Anyway, whenever the physical environment changes with my alignment, it will not stick in future games. I have looked around for a solution to this, but I have not found one. Let's say I do a lot of good stuff and there's a dove flying around my temple. I decide that I've had enough for one night, so I close the game (the game saves automatically upon exit). Later, if I get back on, my physical environment is back to being neutral. This also happens when I go from skirmish to campaign, and vice versa. If I act good if a skirmish, and I go back to normal, I'm back to neutral. The funny thing is that I sometimes do see the dove around my temple at the very beginning, but then it immediately disappears.

I am on Vista (First problem, right? Heh).
The game is set to XP Service Pack 2 Compatibility Mode
I right click on the icon and say "Run as an Administrator" when I open the game.
I have patch 1.10 and 1.20.

My creature's alignment changes correctly.

Thanks in advance.

Probably.. :rolleyes

Do you have the latest patch for Vista?

Your alignment is kept in the registry under your profile name as "LoveBuckets". Chances are that it's not being updated.
If you can access the registery (Start>run > input regedit and seach for LHMultiplayer for XP) you can either check if that value is changing, or change it yourself. Here's how.

Thanks for the response!  :)

No, I have not downloaded Vista Service Pack 2.

I guess I should have mentioned that I'm on 32-bit Vista.

I also tried the regedit thing, and it did nothing to change my alignment when I went back into the game. When I checked the registry, the Lovebuckets file was set back to all zeros. Would downloading Vista Service Pack 2 help ameliorate this problem?

I think it's up to SP3 now. Try that or the latest service pack.

The fact that it's 32 bit might make a difference, but you can't change it.

Well, it looks as if it refuses to work. I downloaded Vista Service Pack 2 (I couldn't find Service Pack 3 for Vista), uninstalled Black & White, ddeleted the old Black & White folders, defragged, cleaned by temporary files, and reinstalled. After all that, I installed patches 1.10 and 1.20, and I put it on compatibility for XP SP 2, in addition to running as an administrator. Then, I tried running as Windows 90 and 2000.

I guess I should just deal with the fact that my land will stay neutral-looking. ;)

Anyway, thank you for your response and your help! I appreciate it.
