I have run into quite a few problems in Black and white.
1) When i install either patch 1.1 or 1.2 i go into the game and the number in the corner says V1.00, and i dont know why. I have tried uninstalling the patches and re-installing, but to no avail. I have also reinstalled the game itself a few times.

2)The sound effects are working, but the game's music isnt present  ???

3)Also, can you only obtain the chimp from the witch (land 3) if you have the ape to start with? I tried the scroll with a mandrill and got an ape, then i changed my creature to an ape via creature changer then tried the scroll again and got a chimp.

Any suggestions for solving these problems would be GREATLY appreaciated.
Thanks

!/ This seems to be normal with Vista. The game is patched, but it doen't show as being patched.  One way to tell is to restart a profile and see if you've got the options.

2/ A normal problem with the V1.20 patch. Copy the music files from the CD to the same folder in the game directory.

thankyou very much kays. I have now fixed the sound issue, and luckily the patch does work.
Now i just need to know if having the ape instead of the chimp (unless i use the ape) is normal :)

When i do something on say a skirmish (or the adventure) and then close the game, i return and my alignment always resets itself to 0 (neutral). Any solutions?  :shocked
I hope its not a Vista error, they are really starting to p*ss me off  :rolleyes :suspect

I doubt it's a Vista error, unless B&W puts your alignment in the registry or something.

But just in case, are you running it with UAC off or by running B&W as an admin?

It could be a Vista problem with it not saving the game properly.

If ever you restore a backup, you'll nothice that your alignment is neutral. So not all is being saved when you use BWBackup. It could be that Vista is doing the same.

It saves my creature and adventure progress as it as it should, and the game used to be fine on my system. I have reinstalled countless times, cleaned the registry and everything, but nothing seems to work. What is UAC by the way?

I have just realised that i have the same issue with player symbols. When i give myself a symbol then leave and return, my symbol is set back to the default one. I hope this helps at all in the solving of the issue. The symbols themselves dont matter all that much, its the alignment that really matters. I was (am) considering reinstalling vista (it worked perfectly when i first got it) but i am hoping for a less drastic solution.
Thanks

That's strange. So the symbol is still in the profiles folder but the game isn't recognising it.

Well i use the symbols that come with the game. For example, if i change the default symbol to say a happy face then i leave and return and its back to the default symbol (the two over-lapping circles.) It might just be that the profile folder is corrupted or something, but i doubt thats all of the problem. Ill post again when ive tried replacing the profiles folder.

Player symbols are stored in the registry.  So I guess the problem is it not being able to save to the registry.

You ran it as administrator, right? (Right click the shortcut > "Run as administrator" or something)

Edit: I mean, which of the player symbols you use is stored there.

SkelApe just answer this one question for me..... you have been posting the problems you have all over the internet.
But you never say that you own the PC that and have exclusive Administrator rights  that are needed  to make the game work properly.

Is there any way to COMPLETELY wipe black & white from your system? It used to install fine.
Oh one thing i forgot to mention: i have to install it whilst in safe mode because if i dont i recieve the error message: "This build of CDCode is for Black & WhiteThis is an invalid build of CDCode. Please fill out the EReg Config Form to obtain a valid CDCode build." exactly as shown. Perhaps this is the root of the problem?
I have tried everything but cant fix it.

To completely uninstall the game. Uninstall it, delete all of the folders, empty the recycle bin and run a defrag.

If possible, also go through the registry and delete any referances to B&W. Just in case, backup the registry first.

Kays you forgot  the .....
Fry  the HD for 5m on each side in extra virgin olive oil with 3 crushed cloves of garlic and  some root ginger, to taste.
.
But seriously  B&W1 can be a pain to delete completely,  USE A Registry that you trust not just the first one you find for free.

I have done all the things that were suggested, and i have thoroughly searched the computer and the registry and got rid of any Black & White stuff. When i restart the game, my problem persists. I really am getting irritated with the constant problems caused by Vista -.-
