Hi all, welcome to my first post, brass band fanfare and cheerleaders and all that jazz.
Anyway, I played B&W, fell in love and lost many hours playing it. Then, horror of horrors, got to third land and halfway through the game crashed whenever I tried to save it, or autosave occurred. Decided I couldn't realistically pay the entire game in one sitting, backed up my stuff using BnWBU, uninstalled the game.
Many months later, I decided my frustration had finally gone, and decided to replay the game. After many, many attempts, I finally got it working perfectly on Vista with no save problems (I'm guessing the most recent save game was corrupted or something because I had to load a game from the end of level 2 to get all this to work.
I apologise for all this ramble BTW, but I'm setting the scene for a problem that I haven't noticed anyone else had had on the internet, and I like to build the suspense.
So, I play through level 3, everything going swimmingly, getting annoyed by Lethys stealing all my carefully grown forests all the time, finally win over the third village, the final pillar falls and...
TADA! I get my Creature (a lovely angelic Ape BTW) back. Great.... :laugh2
...except the game doesn't see fit to return any of my leashes back as well. So my creature is wandering around like a lost soul all the time, being harassed by Lethys :devil and his nasty minion. :angry
I can start a skirmish game, and everything is fine. But going gack to the story game, and nada. Zip. Not even a piece of string with a name tag on it for me to use. Tried saving and reloading, still nothing. Casting the leash motions also doesn't work (the leash icons are not in the lower right either).
I have unlocked the Chimp creature, so in theory I could swap my Ape for the Chimp and see if that helps, but since I can't lead him to the Chimp to swap him, I'd have to wait for him to randomly get near there. Which isn't likely.
Any ideas anybody?
(BTW if you're still here after all that, you're a saint. Or I'm a good writer.)
Oh yes, nearly forgot. Running on Windows Vista. Using patch 1.2 (I assume from the skipped tutorial on reinstallation since Vista doesn't let you know by the number). Using NVidia Geforce 8400 GS, though I can't see it being a graphics problem. I am using Norton 360 but I can't see it being a conflict with that either. I have had too many chocolates today, but I don't think that is causing a problem either. At least not with the game.
