How do I place objects on maps, without text editing?

Looking at some of the custom maps, it's clear that some people know how to place objects in ways other than simple Text Editing. How do you do that? What exact tools do you need? I don't know what tools do what, it's all greek to me, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, tell me the right tools, I'd be much obliged!

Black & White World Modifier is WYSIWYG but otherwise you will need to do some text editing of maps.

I did all of mine using BWExpressMapEditor and a lot of trial and error. :rolleyes

WoW Kays! Really? You made that Land1 Map with the village near where the boat would be and all the fields were perfectly placed!

Fields aren't that difficult since they are all the same size. House neither if you place then in a straight line. Then you only need to figure out the rotation of the first ones.

Cool Kay, but how did you get a starting point?

The map editors do have a co-ordinate locator which show you the location of a spot.
