Help! Cannot......

I have two issues:

First, the "escape screen", doesn't save my settings as in when i change my creatures name, my icon, intelligent tool tips, etc. Always reverts back to its default.

Second, i downloaded the gorilla creature file (after total installation) but i havent seen him. The original ape looks the same and that one guy on the first island still says "i dont have any special creatures for you". I'm sure i installed it correctly but maybe i missed something?

My memory's a little hazy on this, but I don't think there is any mechanism in-game to switch to the gorilla.  You may need to use a creature changer tool.

Something else to look at though.  I seem to recall some conditional logic around the Mandarin.  One of the creatures available to for changing differs depending on whether you have the Ape selected or not.  Anyone else remember the specifics?
