Does anyone know where the files are installed that tell the game that you have a creature at the creature breeder's hut? I have the mandrill creature cd and have traced it back to the registry, looked in a range of different files and tried opening some of the files on the cd, but to no avail :\

So i thought, ive tried all this stuff, why not just put a question up on the boards? So here i am. Does anyone know (whether from the creature cd or those downloads that are used) where the files are downloaded that put the creatures at the breeder's hut (either on land 1 or 4)

Thanks all.

Look in the downloads section "B&W Essentials" and under creature unlockers. Each one is in there.

I know how to get the unlockers, i was just wondering what changes they made to the game (what files were deleted/copied during the unlockers' installation).

I'd be surprised if anyone knew.

I'm curious though.  If the downloadable unlockers from this site or the cd that you have work, why would you need to know?

Is it just that you're curious too or do you have something else in mind ??? ?

It beats me also. :rolleyes

The unlockers are just that. A software switch to enable the use of those creatures. The creature files are a part of the game by defaut.

From what I can see It's not stored in the registry. So I think that they either add a file or alter one.

Indeed, i have something else in mind, involving the rhino :)

Kays, do you have any idea what theese files might be? And i believe ive found a number of registry entries for the cd itself, but not for the unlockers. I know that a file called "CreatureDll" was copied somewhere, because i took a screenshot just as the unlocker was working. My CD came with two .cab files, data 1 and 2. When i open them, they appear to be empty although they have varying sizes, and 7zip cant do anything to them. Wonder what could be inside...

It could be possible that they are saving it as a .dll. But I did a search of my PC and couldn't find a creature.dll or anything similar.

Can you attach those two .cab files to a post and I'll see if I can open them. If there's a size, there must be something there.

Im afraid i can only send one via forum, because the other one is 512kb (a bit too large).
If you require the other, ill email it to you. :)

I can't open it either. I'm getting an "Invalid Archive Type" error.

Took another look, but still can't find what gets changed by the unlockers.

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I couldn't find the "Football field problem" thread.

I am running VIsta 64x, and, the installation of the football mod is melfunctioning.

It just doesn't work, I can't get the 8 sized scaffhold required to build it, it just won't allow me.

I installed Creature Isle, to see if that would alter anything, but, no.

Due to a mistake my instalation folder is less then default, so, could that be the problem?
D:\Games (x86)\Lionhead Studios

And, yes, there isn't a \Black and White

That's the mistake ^^;;

I tried also running it as admin, yet, nothing.

I never install to the default directory and it's always worked for me.

You do need a lot of room to place a soccer field.

Oh i resolved this issue by the way (the opening of the .cab). I had to use quite a complicated program called i5comp and that was run via basic DOS. Ironically, the files i got were of no help to what i was trying to ahieve  :D

Kayss.. I know I need alot of room..

Perhaps you were a bit sleepy..

I cannot even create the scaffhold of 8. It stops at 7.

Ach well, not like I keep my vilagers happy anyway.. ._.
