Here is the deal guys, I installed BnW2 and played it till the third island and then I installed Doom 3 and after I installed doom 3 I could no longer run BnW2. Now I get the error message "could not create the 3d device" after the black screen when starting BnW2. I'm running these games on the Toshiba Satellite x205-s7483. I tried to reinstall both the game and Directx and both tries failed. So any other ideas? Ohh and this laptop is not connected to the internet.

Thanks.
Konrad.

Hi. :)

I think that errror happens when the game can't find the pixel shaders. Is there any way of re-installing or updating the video drivers for your laptop.

Also do you have the patches installed?

Hey there,

Would the patches fix that error? I did not read anything like that in the readme.
The strange thing is that the game worked before, and I did not update or alter the graphics card's drivers. Unless you think doom3 did that on its own?

Thanks

The patches will help with a number of problems. But I don't know about yours. It won't hurt to install them. Except that that you can't use any 1.0 profiles.

It could be that Doom 3 installed something which affects B&W. I doubt that it would be the graphics drivers. Maybe DX10, if that's been released yet. Did you install BW2 after installing Doom 3?

See that is what I was trying to avoid, I had a good profile going and then this happen. I installed BnW2 first, maybe I can roll back directx or the graphics drivers. You think that would help? I think I'm just going to go back to BnW. I rememeber liking it better anyways..

The thing is that you can't just rollback Direct-X. Once it's installed, that's it.

Sorta forgot about this thread, but over the weekend I've been trying to help a member who's got Doom 3 nstalled and can't play BW2 because of hard crashes. I'm suspecting that you've both got the same problem.

[edit]What's your operating system. XP or Vista?[/edit]

Better yet, can you post a copy of the DX Diag report.

Start > Run >>type in dxdiag. On the first page is an option to "Save All Information". Save it as a .txt file and attach it to a post.

Thanks :)
