Can't play D:

Hey, we recently had to wipe our computer, so we lost everything on it.  I tried reinstalling BW1 yesterday and today, and the installation works.  But when I go to play it, the BW logo pops up like normal and the computer starts to open a window, but the window disappears and it won't run the game D:

Anyone know what to do?  I needs my BW  lol  D:
 
Try setting the compatibility on RunBlack.exe to an earlier O.S, e.g. Windows 2000

  • Go to the folder that B&W is installed in (usually something like C:/Program Files/Lionhead/Black & White)
  • Right-click on RunBlack.exe
  • Go to the compatibility tab and tick the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select the OS you want B&W to run under.
 
D:  I tried each option for that, and none of them work. 

The first two options a box pops up that says "runblack.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"

The third option tells me to insert the correct cd O.o the correct cd IS inserted lol

The last option just does like it was doing before I started messing with stuff.

 
Which operating sysyem? Vista or XP?

Have you tried the no cd patch?
 
I'm pretty sure this is a Windows XP.

And if I install the no cd patch, will I still be able to use the B&W1 update and map editors?
 
Ok, I've tried the no cd patch for v 1.2 and 1.3, and each time the game crashes when the "tip of the day" screen pops up.  D: 


And I have the v 1.20 update installed as well.
 
With a fresh installl there shouldn't be corrupt files, But do this anyways.

Uninstall B&W, delete the folder it was in, defrag the hard drive. Then reinstall B&W and only the V1.20 patch and see if it will work with a new game before restoring your profiles.
 
It's worth a shot. Just make sure to backup the original file.

What sort of shape is the CD in? 
 
Pretty old and scratched up, but before the computer wipe we did, it played fine.  I've also tried cleaning it too but that hasn't worked.  I'ma go try the no cd patch now.
 
Aww, I can't go into the scrimmage game page to select a scrim game D:  Is there something else I should try?
