bw1 runs super slow!!

The game works and runs but the video is really slow. I have windows xp, fully updated. 2.53 Ghz processor 1280 mb ram, direct x 9c, an nvidia geforce2 mx/mx 400 graphics card 64 mb with driver version 93.71.
i tested direct draw and direct 3d all tests successful..

game is still slow on minimum settings. MY game version is 1.2.  I even tried compatibility modes with no improvement.

when  i insert the cd and click the button to see if my comps compatable, i pass all tests except for ps2. it reads me as having around "-1700 ghz".... yes that is a negative number

i dont understand i bought this game years ago and it ran perfectly on a 900 mhz processor with 256 memory and same graphics card... now its super slow on my newer better computer.


any suggestions anyone? I really love this game.

Hi, the only thing I can see is that your RAM is low. XP needs about that much just to run. You can try closing as many background apps and processes as possible.

I tried running off a fresh start up and it didnt work.  I checked the task manager, only about 50% of my physical memory is being used. The game requirements only asks for 64 mb.... that means i have 10 times that amount free. 

I did disable real time protection off nod32 anti virus and it did improve things by a little bit but its still not a tolerable playing level.

im going to try a clean boot without antivirus or unneccesary programs to free a little more ram and see if that helps.

nope didnt work just slight improve ments...

i have no trouble running other games like age of empires III or heroes of might and magic 4,  or halflife 2 all of which has much higher requirements. i dont know why this doesnt work so well.

The only thing i can think of is to try and find some older drivers for your video card.
