How about a Lost Island land?  Anyone ever think of making one?  Is it a lot of work to make a landscape?  Can you design buildings too for B&W?  Lots of questions here.  Lost Island in B&W would be cool.  Smoke monster creature would be cool, but probably imposible.  How bout a polar bear creature? Can it be done?

By Lost island land what do you mean?

As for new buildings for B&W i dont think that is possible but heck like i know anything about modeling in b&w

And there already is a Polar bear creature lol  ???

as in smoke creature what do you mean?

Hi Luke.  By Lost Island, I mean this.

Click Me

Since I don't know what your background is, I'll assume you don't know anything.  Of course, I could be wrong.  Lost is a TV series on ABC that has been airing since 2004.  It's about a group of plane crash survivors on a mysterious island, presumed to be located in the south Pacific.  The crash took place on a trip from Sidney to Los Angeles.  As far as this topographical map goes, it's a fan based creation.  I don't know how they figured the layout of the land, but it's generally accepted to be true.  The smoke monster (or creature), is just that, smoke.  It makes a horrible noise, and kills people.  Among other strange things on this tropical island, polar bears have been spotted.

If it sounds like something you may be interested in, ABC has every episode from the beginning up on their site to watch for free.

Actually, I did mean having a polar bear as a creature.  I didn't know that I could have one.  And that smoke monster isn't really invisible, it just looks like smoke.  But it doesn't matter about the polar bear anyway, as an animal or a creature.  Just having the polar bear in any sense to add to the land as much authenticity of the show Lost as can be done.

Ok, so land's can be created.  Someone should make a Lost island.  Polar bears are creatures, so one can use them.  Buldings are the final problem.  Does anyone know if they can be created for the game?

Well you can edit buildings i think by using milk shape... i tired morphing my creture abit by making my bear have longer claws. but i didnt want to mess up any of my game so i never saved it. ;P

lost is a very good show...

I liked last week's episode, with jack's dad being all mesterious talking to loch...

Yeah, that was good.  And funny....

Christian:  I'm here to help you John.

John Locke: Can you help me up?

Christian:  No John, I can't.  Sorry.

Ok, I know the conversation didn't go specifically that way, but it's funnier the way I write it.

^lolwut?

Anyway, though I don't watch Lost, my mapping skills are now enough I can do this. I will research the history and backstory of the show and look at the map and turn it into a heightmap, and then upload it when I'm done. The smoke monster is like a cloud of smoke that kills people/things, no? I think I can do something like that using dark mists, or something kind of like it, anyway.

Oh, just looked up the Dharma logo. I'll do that, too. No problem. :laugh2

Sweet!

A roaming increased storm would be a good match for the Lost smoke monster.

I don't think you can make weather systems quite that advanced. At best they will move between two points in a straight line. But I'm thinking a dark mist that is difficult to see through, with some factour, like FRIKKIN LIONS, that will kill people. But I'll try both and go with whichever is more stylistically badass. :D

Haha! Good luck with that, and that's not sarcasm. Making 'The Island' as the people on Lost refer to it won't be easy! For a start, 'The Island' is bigger than it looks. Of course you can do it by planting trees in random places quickly (I was just using the trees as an example...) but that won't have the same effect of 'The Island' itself. But I would suggest inserting strange and mysterious tribes that contain mysterious items and more.

I would say it's impossible.... But it seems that nothing is impossible while making Black and White Maps. Good luck anyway! ;)

Yeah never got into it because every episode I saw it seemed the creator was pulling random stuff out of his butt.

First of all, wasn't too fond of Lost. Watched maybe five minutes on accident one time.

Second, I've already got the landscape and smoke monster, I'm just procrastinating on actually doing anything (actually, I'm "sleeping" 12 hours a day because I can't sleep well in my house (long story), spending three hours on the Internet and writing ten pages of my novel a day, or about 7000 words, which takes up about all the time not spent helping my mother take care of herself and her son, since she is apparently new to parenting and I never happened), and I don't think this will be too difficult. As opposed to the maps you generally see that are in uber-easy mode, I'm going to make it more difficult so you crawl slowly across the land.

EDIT: http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29143

I'm going to edit my landscape accordingly. Also, he apparently made a Far Cry level modeled after the island.
