God damn Llama keeps distracting me, lmao.

Now, on topic.

I see you people making mods with custom/original models. That means some of you know how to convert/import/export  .bwm files or whatever in order to accomplish this.

Cough up the jewgold!  :suspect

Hi, you can disable the Llamas in your Profile.

If you have the BW2 Modding tools installed . It will unpack all of the .bwe files as well as all of the textures used. Any mods here are done by modifying the texture (.dds) files and/or swapping the .bwe files. So far there has not been a way found to modify the .bwe files.

Ahh, okay. So is it possible to make .bwm files, but not modify the currently existing ones (except for their textures)?

I was looking at the Egypt Project V2.1 and I saw that the creator had custom infantry units.

I'm new to this so I'm probably confused  :help

EDIT: Unless those were taken from B&W2 or BOTG.

Most .bwm files in mods are unused files by Lionhead that have been swapped with the current ones (that are used by default) to give units a new look. For example, if the bwm file that was used by the game was called "m_usedbygame.bwm" and i wanted to swap it with an unused file, (m_notusedbygame.bwm) then i'd rename the second file to look like the first file, and the game would read that file instead. This is quite funny to work with at first, because you can swap the standard weapons with beer tankards or walking sticks, or swap the standard soldiers with children or llamas  :laugh2

Ahh okay, well I guess thats kind of useful.

I was really hoping to make some siege towers  :(

Oh well, everything else I wanted to do is still possible.

hi malrang, and welcome to kayssplace.

yeah, it seems that the first question people seem to ask on this site is how to edit BWM files. were constantly persuading lionhead to give us those magical BWM editors. but i cant see it happening in the future.

Ah okay, well hopefully if they ever make B&W3 they'll make sure to include that in the official modding kit (I won't hold my breath though).

Thanks for the replies!

There never was a BWM editor, the models were made using 3D-S Max, and then exported to .BWM using another tool that added all their game-specific features [/nitpick]  :)
