Hey Kays! i know your probably busy working on other skins, but could you make a "play as the Japanese" mod to go with the aztec and norse ones? it would make a good addition to the mods  :upside

also, could you give me a brief explanation of how to skin buildings? i have everything i need and already have the knowledge of how to skin creatures and hands etc.
Thanks,

Hi. :)

There already is a Japanese Mod. There's also a Japanese wall mod and I was working on a town centre. which I never quite finished.

Skinning buildings is essentially the same as skinning a creature. The textures are kept in the Data\Art\textures folder and there's some 2,253 of them. A lot are not used though. For the Greek building there are three textures, one for each alignment. The the other civilisations, there's only one.. What I did for the town centre is to find a number of Japanese textures and  cut and pasted parts them into the Greek town center. Part of the fun is trying to determine what part of the texture goes where. That's basically about it. To test you either do it with the landscape editor or in game on a special map. I use the trainer to see the various alignments and the transition between them.

Hope that helps. :)

hi again =p im a bit lost on how to skin buildings (i have skinned creatures hands advisors etc) i was told that where i start was the texture folder but when i open something its an assortment of varying gray squares  :D do i need a plugin, or cant i see the files? basically im a bit lost. some help would b gd =] tanks

I'm merging this with your other topic. Since it's related, let's keep it all together. :yes

How do you skin a creature? Which programs and pluggins are you using? And how do you do it? Direct edit of the .dds file or converting it to another file format and then back again?

Let me see if I can find some of the plugins and add them to the downloads.
