Hi, I have another noob question. Since I now understand that adding/editing BW models is impossible right now, I've been rolling around the idea of creating a faction of retextured models?

I'm going to be taking a stab at creating some scripts for a land I'm working on, and I wanted to have there be another Greek player, only its colour theme would be blue rather than red.

So basically; I want to duplicate the Greek faction, but give that newly created faction different textures.

If this can only be done by replacing the models/textures of another faction, then I suppose that would be okay as well.

Thanks for reading  :)

unfortunatly the answer is no.  :( the problem is that there are only 5 factions in the game - norse, greek, egyptian(but they only have skins for people), japanese and aztec.
what you CAN do is pretend that the norse (or whoever) are in fact greek by changing all thier models to greek or an equivalent, but you cant create new factions.

It is possible to change the texture that a particular model uses. If you open a .BWM model with a HEX editor (google it and you will find a free one) then you can change the texture listed in the file. Save it, and that model will use the texture you specified, instead of the default one. With this in mind, see what you can do :)

Thanks! You guys are really helpful.

Alright, so I'll replace one of the tribes with renamed Greek models, then use the Hex editor to change the assigned textures (just so I can have two versions of the Greek tribe running around killing eachother)?

As I explore the models/textures I'm seeing a lot of interesting things I didn't know were there.

Using the Hex editor, can I change an assigned weapon for a model (Greek melee - spear), or is that accomplished elsewhere?
