Ah that could explain a lot. The card should run B&W2 Ok but only on the low settings in the original  graphics.config. you would also probably change resolution to 800x600 to get good frame rates. The 6200 series were a budget / low end set of cards when released in 2004. MORE INFO HERE...

ATI or Nvidia cards should be OK. What confuses me is the Dell 8400 series all haves a PCIe graphics card slot  as standard and not  a AGP as you stated.

The only thing I can think of is un & re-install  the Vanilla game. Patch and try again. My guess would be the Temple is causing the problem.  Skirmish maps and landscapes are not  used until required. I don't know  but I you may be the only Mac and B&W1 user on this forum.
